The primary objective was to introduce the important life concepts that help one adjust to a significant life change. In essence, this is a search for personal meaning as one ages. The slides are mainly visual only and thus evoke the nature of the principle necessary to consider in finding meaning and purpose. Below are brief words to deepen your understanding of Finding Meaning & Purpose.
Life is irreversible but we look for satisfaction & contentment. Whose life are you living? The second half of life requires us to look inward instead of outward in our working careers. This is a spiritual journey. We are not here by an accident. What does it mean that you are here? What is your soul asking? The more we know the larger the mystery of life and existence becomes. What does your life mean at this moment? What is being asked of you? You build meaning. An old smiling man hauling water has found happiness. Who is in control of your life? At some point it is necessary to just shut up and support those around you. Self-awareness is the greatest challenge and asks us to clean up the garden, take care of unfinished business and old baggage. It’s time to free yourself.
Don’t delay your personal search by burying your head in the sand. What you delay will bite. Have the courage to do the work and solve your problems. What we resist will persist. Fear minimizes your life. Have a sense of humor. Don’t pole vault over mouse dung. Happiness cannot be pursued it must insue. Using a channel clicker and eating Doritos has no cosmic meaning. You are comfortable but nothing happens. Don’t keep wearing comfortable old shoes.
Slow the rush..be calm and still…meditate and take deep breaths. If you had one day to life what you do? What best reflects you and what will your legacy say. Zero in on what’s important. What are you modeling to others. Life is a full contact sport..God will move mountains but you better bring a shovel. Don’t overwork but you must do the work. Suffering is the fastest horse to completions. Don’t quit maybe it will stop today. “He who has a a why to live will find a how” (Nietzche) Everyday make a decision about how to live. Men cry..be a team player and reach out to others. “As long as there is life there is hope” (Steven Hawking). Life is like a movie we don’t know until the end. Does your current path enlarge or diminish you? “The meaning of life is to help others find meaning” (Victor Frankl).
